Abortion In Obamacare

Delaware

Names of Insurance Carriers and Their Elective-Abortion Coverage:

  1. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield (8): No plans cover elective abortion (2022 plan documents).

Summary:

For 2022, there is one insurance carrier offering 8 plans on the Delaware exchange, a decrease from 12 plans in 2021. None of the Individual and Family plans on the exchange for 2022 include elective abortion coverage, just as last year.

In 2020, there was 1 carrier on the exchange offering 9 plans, and in 2019, there was 1 carrier offering 8 plans.

In 2018, both Aetna Life Insurance Company and Aetna Health Inc. left the Delaware exchange. None of the plans on the Delaware exchange for 2018 included elective abortion. In 2017, none of the 20 plans covered elective abortion.

While none of the plans in Delaware cover elective abortion, please bear in mind that taxpayers in your state are still paying federal taxes that are used to pay for coverage that includes elective abortion in other states. For example, an estimated 1.25 million Californians received federal taxpayer subsidies in 2014 and 96% of plans sold in California included abortion on demand. Between 2015 and 2024 an estimated $855 billion in federal subsidies will be used in every state to pay for Obamacare health plans, many of which include elective abortion.
